We're delighted to announce that Donna Cooner will be returning to the YA Muses from medical leave on Monday, October 7th, and until then, Robin will Muse for her next Monday, September 30th.

Awards and Lists!

SKINNY by Donna Cooner was selected as a finalist for the Young Adult Library Services Association's (YALSA) Teens' Top Ten, a "teen choice" list where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year! Voting is open from August 15 through Teen Read Week, which is taking place October 13-19 of this year (2013)! The winners will be announced on October 22, 2013.  You can VOTE HERE!


Donna's UK publisher, Egmont, is happy to announce SKINNY is shortlisted for the Coventry Book Awards.  A series of panels comprising of librarians, teachers, students and education advisers met to select the short listed books with the criteria to choose books to inspire and get readers hooked on reading. Voters will decide the winners and eliminations "Big Brother" style begins in January.  The winner will be announced in February, 2014.

Appearances!

Talia and Katherine talked about "All Things YA" at Face in a Book in El Dorado Hills on Thursday September 26. It was a great event hosted by a wonderful book store.

Upcoming...

On October 7th at 6.30 pm - 8.30 pm, Katherine Longshore will be in New York City at the Children's Media Association event titled, "Journeys to Publication", along with authors Joanne Levy, Ame Dyckman, Elisa Ludwig, Sarvenaz Tash, and Lynda Mullaly Hunt. The event will be moderated by Betsy Bird of Fuse #8 Production. Address: The Hartley House, 413 W 46th Street, New York, NY.

Donna CoonerKaty Longshore, Talia Vance, and Veronica Rossi will all be participating in San Francisco TeenQuake, the teen component of the famous LitQuake literary festival that hits San Francisco every October.  You can meet Donna and Katy on Saturday, October 12th from 4-6pm at Books Inc. Opera Plaza, where they'll be signing books.
